FROM ONE EXTREME..... · 19 September 2009
The Weather finally changed for the better, with clear blue skies and flat calm waters. Not exactly the fisherman’s dream conditions, but very acceptable to everyone else after 62 consecutive days of recorded rainfall. The last dry day was July 8th. Since 9th September we have had no rainfall at all and the river has fallen to 15cms on the guage.
Since our last blog entry, salmon angling has been relatively quiet with only six fish landed. As he often is, Jack Browne from Dublin was once again the most successful angler of the week with four fish, two off Finlough and two off Doolough. All four – three springers and a grilse – were far from fresh.
Graham Pearson from Durham also had one off Finlough at 4.5lbs and Bernard Kennedy from Dublin had a fresh wild grilse off the Turn Pool of 4lbs approx.
Sea trout fishing has been relatively quiet also with about 30 caught for the week so far, including two 3-pounders.
